(Currently waiting for an email back on one that I appear to be literally the first media to cover, let alone blockchain media.) In the meantime &#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Kraken exchange appears to have lost their Japanese banking \u2014 specifically their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CryptoCurrency\/comments\/80vys1\/kraken_notice_regarding_closure_of_smbc_funding\/\">SWIFT account at SMBC in Japan,<\/a> for USD, EUR and JPY. They <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/krakensupport\/status\/968869287145467906\">say:<\/a> &#8220;You can still trade with USD, it is the method of funding that will be gone in a month&#8217;s time. We are actively working to establish new banking relations, and hope to make an announcement soon.&#8221; But <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/krakensupport\/status\/968998827087687680\">also:<\/a> &#8220;This notice does not affect domestic USD transactions.&#8221; Why is this happening? &#8230; apparently Kraken just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/BitcoinMarkets\/comments\/81ijee\/breaking_notice_for_kraken_clients_funding\/\">give them too much business!<\/a> &#8220;Due to the strain placed on the bank by our recent exponential growth, this banking partner needs to narrow the scope of supported clients to maintain good quality of service.&#8221; That&#8217;s a plausible reason to drop a customer, right? &#8220;The traditional banking partners that Kraken needs to work with are not able to keep up with the demands of the growing Bitcoin economy&#8221; \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UP1YsMlrfF0\">not Roger Ver<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Kraken will also be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CryptoCurrency\/comments\/81dwvi\/kraken_to_stop_usdt_tether_trading_for_japan\/\">stopping Japanese residents from trading in Tethers.<\/a> They <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/krakensupport\/status\/969764261407813632\">say:<\/a> &#8220;The recent change to USDT in Japan is due to Kraken not having the required licence in Japan to support USDT. Growth will be 4% a year. They&#8217;re doing this as a mined blockchain, though they note that global warming is one of the Marshall Islands&#8217; biggest problems, as the country could literally disappear beneath the waves &#8230; The press release also has a snarky comparison table with the Venezuelan Petro. The technology is courtesy <a href=\"https:\/\/getneema.com\/\">Neema,<\/a> a payments startup whose website doesn&#8217;t mention blockchains.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Qu\u00e9bec is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-03-02\/quebec-throws-cold-water-on-bitcoin-miners-seeking-cheap-power\">not so keen on crypto mining after all<\/a> \u2014 despite Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2018-02-27\/crypto-craze-has-hydro-quebec-ceo-s-phone-ringing-off-the-hook\">previous outreach to miners,<\/a> the government is not only not happy with the idea, but is considering charging miners <em>more<\/em>. Other towns in Canada and the northern US who get their power from Qu\u00e9bec are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pressrepublican.com\/news\/local_news\/city-seeks-moratorium-on-currency-plants\/article_700695bf-16dc-5da8-9bb0-46e5a5bce70c.html\">less than keen<\/a> on the miners either.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>In the UK, Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott markets Labour to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politicshome.com\/news\/uk\/home-affairs\/immigration\/house\/house-magazine\/93246\/diane-abbott-%E2%80%9Csometimes-immigration\">communist nocoiner rabble<\/a> \u2014 &#8220;One of the problems with Bitcoin is the extent to which it is just a gigantic Ponzi scheme. If everyone took their Bitcoin money and tried to buy a new car all at once the whole thing would collapse. Even <a href=\"https:\/\/davidgerard.co.uk\/blockchain\/2017\/10\/04\/book-news-atlas-pulse-tv-video-with-charlie-morris-the-book-is-cheap-on-kindle-canada-today\/\">Charlie Morris<\/a> thinks it&#8217;s entering a bear market.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;re as <em>shocked, shocked<\/em> as I am to hear that <a href=\"https:\/\/news.bitcoin.com\/46-last-years-icos-failed-already\/\">46% of ICOs from 2017 are functionally dead already,<\/a> despite having taken over $100 million (usually in cryptos) \u2014 with another 13% well on the way to failure.
