If you clicked on the link \u2014 goodbye, apes!<\/p>\n<p>The project tweeted: \u201cThe hacker posted a fraudulent link to a copycat of the BAYC website with a fake Airdrop, where users were prompted to sign a \u2018safeTransferFrom\u2019 transaction. This transferred their assets to the scammer&#8217;s wallet.\u201d [<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BoredApeYC\/status\/1518637579633053701\"><i>Twitter<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Yuga Labs got back control of the Instagram &#8230; and finally put two-factor authentication on it.<\/p>\n<p>Well-known NFT collections, such as the Bored Apes, have bots watching to buy anything listed below the floor price. So if you steal someone\u2019s apes, you can cash out before the NFT is blacklisted by OpenSea.<\/p>\n<p>This means the bot-operating buyer is stuck with stolen goods. Though in practice, the bot-buyer can often sell the ape NFT back to the original owner for more than they paid.<\/p>\n<p>In this search on OpenSea, 8c7934 is the hacker. You can see that OpenSea has <i>finally<\/i> flagged their address. [<a href=\"https:\/\/opensea.io\/collection\/boredapeyachtclub?tab=activity&amp;search[isSingleCollection]=true&amp;search[eventTypes][0]=ASSET_TRANSFER\"><i>OpenSea<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>8c7934 transferred out 761.81 ETH (about $2,230,000) \u2014 so they\u2019ve done okay at liquidating their apes. [<a href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/address\/0x8c7934611b6ad70fbea13a1593de167a4689b9a9\"><i>Etherscan<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>The crypto world expressed its sympathy for Bored Apes and their owners: \u201cIt\u2019s like watching a bunch of people run into a burning building with free money spray painted on it.\u201d [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/88gpxg\/bored-ape-yacht-club-instagram-hacked-nfts-worth-millions-stolen\"><i>Vice<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<h3>NFT from a Bridge<\/h3>\n<p>Sina Estavi bought an NFT of Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey\u2019s first tweet ever for $2.9 million in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Estavi compared Dorsey\u2019s tweet to the Mona Lisa. &#8220;I believe it&#8217;s an emerging market and it&#8217;s just the beginning. All forms of digital arts and creations such as music, photos, videos, tweets and blog posts can be traded in the form of an NFT.&#8221; [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/business-56506466\"><i>BBC<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Estavi put the NFT up for auction in early April. The highest bid was $277. [<a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/nft-of-first-tweet-ever-secures-bid-of-just-277-after-1848792116\"><i>Gizmodo<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Between the purchase and attempted sale of his NFT, Estavi went to jail in Iran for \u201cdisrupting the economic system\u201d over his Bridge Oracle project and token offering. Officials also seized his Twitter account. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2021\/05\/17\/buyer-of-jack-dorseys-first-tweet-reportedly-arrested-in-iran\/\"><i>CoinDesk<\/i><\/a><i>; <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mehrnews.com\/news\/5214286\/%D8%B3%DB%8C%D9%86%D8%A7-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D9%88%DB%8C-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B2%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%B4%D8%AA-%D8%B4%D8%AF-%D8%B3%D8%B1%D9%85%D8%A7%DB%8C%D9%87-%DA%AF%D8%B0%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%86-%D9%85%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%82%D8%A8-%DA%A9%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%87%D8%A8%D8%B1%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%86-%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B4%D9%86%D8%AF\"><i>Mehr News<\/i><\/a><i>, in Persian<\/i>]<\/p>\n<p>Estavi put a lot of effort into the public reputation of the Bridge project. Iranian crypto researcher Kave Moshtaq insinuated that Estavi had sent thugs to beat him up for looking too closely into the project, and for showing up in court related to a complaint about Bridge. \u201cAfter leaving the court, five motorcyclists stopped me in front of the car and hit me. Fists landed on my face.\u201d [<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kavephysics\/status\/1381989246177849347\"><i>Twitter<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>The Iran Blockchain Community put out a call for information on Estavi after \u201creceiving numerous complaints\u201d about Estavi, Bridge, and Estavi\u2019s crypto exchange, CryptoLand, which operated in Iran but was based in Malaysia. [<a href=\"https:\/\/iranblockchain.org\/%d8%b4%d8%a7%da%a9%db%8c%d8%a7%d9%86-%d9%be%d8%b1%d9%88%da%98%d9%87-brg-%d9%88-%d8%a2%d9%82%d8%a7%db%8c-%d8%b3%db%8c%d9%86%d8%a7-%d8%a7%d8%b3%d8%aa%d9%88%db%8c\/\"><i>Iran Blockchain Community<\/i><\/a><i>, in Persian<\/i>]<\/p>\n<p>Aggrieved CryptoLand investors demonstrated outside the Economic Crimes Court building in Tehran in July 2021. [<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ava_today\/status\/1414212300836413442\"><i>Twitter<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Mate Tokay, former CEO of Bitcoin.com, had already been planning to sue Estavi for not paying Tokay in Bridge\u2019s BRG tokens for his work on Bridge. Tokay warned investors that Bridge was a pump-and-dump\u00a0\u2014 though he didn\u2019t say this until he didn\u2019t get his own tokens. [<a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/former-bitcoin-com-ceo-sues-oracle-over-37-5m-allegedly-unpaid-tokens\"><i>CoinTelegraph<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Now that Estavi is out of jail, he says he\u2019s trying to make good on investors\u2019 money \u2014 with a new version of BRG, this time running on Binance Smart Chain.<\/p>\n<p>Previous investors need to send Estavi their phone numbers, with some Tron TRX tokens to verify their holdings. Estavi will send them their new tokens within \u201ca month or two,\u201d and return the TRX.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis gentleman did not swap a single Bridge and started to [list new BRG] in new exchanges,\u201d one buyer of the original BRG told CoinDesk. So far, nobody seems to have been given their \u201cnew\u201d BRG. But I\u2019m sure it\u2019s fine. The plaintiffs allege their NFTs were stolen due to known bugs in OpenSea\u2019s code \u2014 such as the error that allowed earlier NFT listings to be reactivated in January 2022, letting a scammer buy your ape well below cost. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/n7ny4x\/opensea-sitting-on-ticking-bomb-as-lawsuits-pile-up-over-stolen-apes\"><i>Vice<\/i><\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>Meet the Fiverr gig workers in poor countries doing underpaid art for NFTs. One Sri Lankan artist, Supuni Suriyarachchi, charges between $500 and $2500 for an NFT collection that takes one to three days.
