[<em><a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2021\/12\/06\/bitcoin-city-el-salvador-nayib-bukele\/\">Foreign Policy<\/a>, paywalled<\/em>]<\/p>\n<p>This is a version of <a href=\"https:\/\/davidgerard.co.uk\/blockchain\/2021\/11\/21\/el-salvador-a-1-billion-bitcoin-bond-to-set-up-bitcoin-city\/\">my previous post about the Volcano Bonds and Bitcoin City,<\/a> a couple of weeks ago, with more geopolitics \u2014 this is Foreign Policy, after all. I include some more details on both that have emerged in the past two weeks, such as the Bitcoin City renderings in the architect&#8217;s portfolio, and the Twitter thread ripping his bad ideas to shreds.<\/p>\n<p>I was going to write up the original post as something FP-friendly, but the editorial queues were quite long around Thanksgiving, so we gave it a couple more weeks.
