Whatever business they were in, it wasn&#8217;t being a retail crypto exchange.<\/p>\n<p>My current hypothesis is that Quadriga was money laundering for some quite bad people \u2014 that Gerry Cotten&#8217;s &#8220;incompetent&#8221; altcoin trading on Poloniex and so forth was really laundering his <em>actual<\/em> customers&#8217; cash out.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder slightly if he fell afoul of said actual customers somehow \u2014 and if $200 million was enough to murder a guy over.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyers for Quadriga&#8217;s creditors asked the RCMP to exhume the alleged body of Cotten, to check it was really him.
